Your Arrival

There is a gate at the entrance to the community. The code will be provided to you prior to your stay along with personalized key-less entry code to the house and WiFi login information.

You can arrive any time after 4 PM on your first day and leave by 11 AM on your last day.

The TVs are smart TVs so you can log in to your Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or other accounts to watch. There are also some others like YouTube if you do not have accounts. If you do log in, just remember to log out before you leave.

Please remember to treat the house with respect so we can keep it open to guests and have you back again. Thank you!

What to Bring

  • Towels for the lake
  • Soap for the shower/bath
  • Ground or whole bean coffee if you’re a coffee drinker (we have a small grinder, a regular coffee maker, and a Keurig so bring k-cups if you prefer)
  • Paper plates if you want to keep dishes to a minimum
  • Extra paper products if you think the provided amount won’t last
  • Condiments you like to have on hand
  • The weather is a little unpredictable, so always come with something cozy, even in the hot summer
  • Shoes (sandals, flip-flops, etc.) you can wear down to the dock and over to the pool. Walking barefoot on mulch is no fun
  • If you want to rent a boat, call one of these boat rental places ahead of time to reserve one!

Grocery Stores Nearby

There are two grocery stores in Marion. We prefer the Food Lion for their better selection of organics. The address for Food Lion is 1210 Hwy 70 W, Marion, NC 28752.

The other store is BiLo, located at 500 N Main St, Marion, NC 28752.

By far the BEST place to get meat, especially ground pork breakfast sausage and great cuts of beef for the grill, is West Court Food Center. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall, but great butcher section.

Other Things to Note

The house is on well and septic, so please be conscious of your water use and PLEASE do not flush anything other than toilet paper.  PLEASE also do not put food or fats down the drain.

The trash is picked up at the end of your stay by the cleaning crew and taken into town so please do not pour liquid in the trash which increases the likelihood of leaks during transit. (That said, please do put fatty liquids into the trash so it doesn’t go down the drain into the septic.)

If you would like additional cleaning and trash service during your stay, that can be arranged after booking, and before your stay for an additional fee.

The house is also our personal vacation home so please treat it as you would your own (minus the cleaning, which the crew will take care of for you).  As our son’s Boy Scout saying goes, “leave it better than you found it”!
